Yes, we cross the state line. Gets asked a lot so might as well address it up front. Westchester House Cleaning Service Co is based in Yonkers but we have been cleaning homes in Greenwich for a few years now after a long-time client moved from Rye to Cos Cob and did not want to find a new cleaning service. She asked. We drove the extra fifteen minutes. Kept her on the schedule. Then her neighbor called. Then someone from Old Greenwich. And now we run a crew into lower Fairfield County regularly enough that it is just part of the weekly route. Insured in both states.
That is not flattery. It is a logistical observation.
Back-country Greenwich has homes where you drive three minutes from the gate to the front door. Homes with separate guest houses and pool houses that each require their own cleaning scope. Kitchens with two islands. Master bathrooms larger than most New York apartments. We have cleaned houses in this town where the crew could not find one of the bedrooms on the first visit because the floor plan was that sprawling.
The waterfront properties along the Sound – Old Greenwich, Shore Road, Tod’s Point area – are different in scale but similar in quality. Expensive finishes. Coastal humidity issues. Salt air doing its thing to every exterior-adjacent surface. These homes need careful product selection and crews who know what moisture does to natural stone and specialty wood over time.
Even the more modest homes in Greenwich (and they do exist, despite the town’s reputation) tend to be well-maintained with good materials. A “starter home” here would be the nicest house on the block in most other towns. The cleaning standard adjusts accordingly.
Same as booking any other cleaning with us. Call, describe your home, get a quote. We do not charge extra for being in Connecticut. The quote reflects the size and scope of the job, not which state it is in. If your Greenwich home is the same size as a home we clean in Scarsdale, the price will be similar.
Our crew drives from our Westchester route into Greenwich – usually the last or first stop of the day depending on the schedule. Port Chester to Greenwich is like ten minutes. Rye to Cos Cob is nothing. The state border is invisible from a driving standpoint. We carry insurance that covers both states, which is something we sorted out early because it matters and cutting that corner was never an option.
Scheduling lands on the same days we have crews working the eastern Westchester towns – Rye, Mamaroneck, that corridor. Makes the routing efficient. If you need a day that does not align with our existing Greenwich schedule, we will figure something out. Usually not a problem.
Cos Cob is where most of our Greenwich work started and it is still our busiest section of town. The homes here range from older colonials near the Post Road to larger properties set back from the main roads with long driveways and a lot of square footage. Mix of young families and people who have been in the neighborhood for decades. Good clients. Straightforward about what they want.
Old Greenwich has a beach-town feel even though it is technically part of one of the wealthiest municipalities in the country. The homes near the water deal with sand tracked inside, salt air on windows, and that perpetual coastal dampness in bathrooms and basements. Sound familiar if you have read our Rye or Mamaroneck pages – same body of water, same issues, just across the border.
Riverside is quieter. More residential, fewer commercial interruptions. Homes on larger lots. Families with kids at the elementary school. Biweekly house cleaning is common here. Weekly for the bigger homes with more bathrooms and more happening inside them on a daily basis.
We are newer to back-country Greenwich and take jobs there selectively based on scheduling and distance. Those properties are enormous and require a full-day commitment from a larger crew. Worth it when the logistics line up. We are upfront about availability rather than saying yes and then scrambling.
Weekly maid service is more common among our Greenwich clients than biweekly. The homes are big and they accumulate visible dust and mess faster because there is simply more surface area for it to land on. A 5,000 square foot house that goes two weeks between cleanings looks noticeably different from the same house cleaned every seven days.
Same crew every visit. That matters anywhere but it especially matters in Greenwich where the homes have quirks that take time to learn. Which rooms have radiant floor heating that you can not get too wet. Where the hidden panel for the sound system is that should not be sprayed. Which closet has the husband’s watch collection that the crew should work around rather than move.
These are things you learn by being in the same house week after week. We do not rotate staff through Greenwich homes. The crew you meet on visit one is the crew you will see on visit fifty.
We are already making the drive. Adding your home is simple. Call Westchester House Cleaning Service Co at (914) 860-0186. Tell us about the house. We will quote it honestly and find a day that works.
